Diet advice is easy to give, until someone asks when to eat it.
I caught up with three friends after ages for a quick Mysore trip. The moment I arrived, one among the three, without even a hello, inspected my stomach like a health inspector and asked why my paunch was now on public display. I calmly informed him that I jog 5 km every morning, and yes, reward myself with a king-sized breakfast right after.
He then went on to describe his own disciplined routine : sliced cucumber topped with powdered groundnut and grated coconut, followed by boiled sprouts and raw veggies, to begin the day. Lunch was mostly boiled vegetables with just a little rice, and dinner was always light. I was genuinely impressed and was already wondering how to incorporate at least some of this into my life.
Just then, the third friend innocently asked,
“This cucumber–sprouts thing… do we take it before the regular breakfast or after?”
There was silence.
Followed by unsurvivable laughter.
Fitness Guru officially took voluntary retirement from giving diet advice.
